Busselton is ALWAYS an awesome spot for a wedding. I love the chilled laid back awesomeness that goes with every day we spend here. Donna and Glenn had the most fabulous chilled cruisy day - personified by the totally coooooool Kombi! Now THAT is personalizing your wedding day!Ceremony at St Mary's, Photos in the Tuart Forest and Busselton Jetty, Reception at The Goose - one of my favorite reception venues!
I love it when our couples have little quirks that make their weddings extra special. Allira had the MOST awesome boquets and flower arrangements - made of OLD BOOKS! How cool is that? The ceremony was held on Marsden Hill, Photos at the Back Beach, and Guppy Park with the reception at Vat 2.
The gorgeous Alyce and Michael were married on a sunny autumn day....at the glorious Secret Garden in Margaret River. Photos at Canal Rocks, Brookland Valley Estate and Wills Domain, Yallingup
Renae and Dion were married on a gorgeous Autumn day in Yallingup at the fabulous Will's Domain Winery. This is one of my favorite places for a wedding, as the ceremony location is just stunning overlooking the vines and rolling hills, its really close to all the beautiful spots for photos in the Southwest such as Canal Rocks AND the restaurant and reception setup always looks amazing.
Check out the slideshow for their gorgeous images full of Fun and Joy and Awesomeness!
We had booked in Robyn's Maternity session for an afternoon that turned into quite possibly the wettest April day on record....so our outdoor evening light on the beach session turned into an indoor studio maternity session! Good thing we have a studio now!
I traveled down to Dunsborough for their Lifestyle Newborn session. The difference between a Lifestyle and a Studio session is that a Lifestyle session is more relaxed, casual and natural. I work with natural light, with your home and family...capturing you in your own environment. We can use your baby's nursery, perhaps some of your favorite toys or household furniture.... A studio session is a little more structured, and you capture those amazing sleepy newborn looking amaaaaaazing shots. Both styles are awesome, its just what suits YOU as a new parent!
Helen and David married in the lovely Catholic Church in Dunsbourough. We traveled to Bunker Bay, Eagle Bay and Wise Winery for photos, and spent a little time sharing in their reception at Wise Winery!
It was a glorious Summer day, and Carly and I had such fun....
I LOVE photographing people in LOVE!! There is nothing better than capturing that amazing connection between two people and showcasing something so very special. Jacinta and Allen also helped me out with a little video footage too! Hopefully that will be shown very soon....These two lovebirds have just moved in together and have their gorgeous images in pride of place on their new walls of the new home - best place for them to be!
Are you...or do you know someone who is getting married in July/August or September this year (2013)? Are you not having a photographer because it just wasnt in the budget? Perhaps you REALLY wanted gorgeous images to capture your special day, but its a small backyard wedding, or perhaps a second wedding and the funds just wouldnt stretch that far so you are forgoing it, or perhaps hoping some of the iphone pictures your friends take will be good enough?
Conditions do apply and there are limited spots available - so contact us know to get the lowdown and you can have amazing photography for your wedding too!
It helps us to get to know each otherIt makes our clients more comfortable in front of the camera, making for better images on their wedding daywe get to create amazing natural images of two people in LOVE and can produce beautiful artwork to decorate their new home together

So, when you plan to have a baby, most people get it right. The work out the dates, the say "oh yes I have my maternity leave sorted - my boss is lovely and giving me a whole year off!" You have a lovely pregnancy, an easy labour - spend some fabulous time bonding with your beautiful healthy baby while not having a worry in the world.
At least thats what the internet and the nappy adds tell you!
My Baby came at a very unplanned time. We had been trying for YEARS without success and in the end started IVF. With our history I never EVER expected it to work. Surprise Surprise it did. First time. Right in the middle of a VERY busy wedding season. PANIC.
On top of that horrendous morning sickness that saw me loose 20 kg's from throwing up for 18 weeks untill i discovered some GOOD DRUGS
On top of that our baby was diagnosed with what could have been very serious kidney and bladder issues.
On top of that I was trying to work full time
On top of that I managed to score 4 awards at the National Photography awards AND shoot a wedding in Fiji!
On top of that we were traveling up to King Eddies almost every week for scans and tests and all sorts of other things and I had to relocate to Perth 6 weeks before my due date - just in case.
Thanks goodness Sammy arrived safely, and after a small operation at 2 days old he got to come home YAY!
No Maternity leave for me as I was in High Wedding Season! I managed to get through the end of 2012 and the start of 2013 somehow and delivered some awesome images to all my fabulous wedding couples. Yes they may have been slightly later than 'normal' by a week or two, but the vast majority of people were so so pleased. We have expanded and brought in extra people to try and lower the load on my solders, and its working!
Lately we have been having a few issues with little Sammy, infections, more surgery, more infections, and 5 weeks of hospital visits and lots of antibiotics. The last lot of surgery will (cross fingers) be in a couple of weeks and then we can rest easy for a while - HOPEFULLY. This of course means we have been out of the office, back and forth to Perth again, and again...trying to work full time - and doing the work of two other people too!. (as my trusty JO JO has been swanning around in Europe. hmmmmm. ;))
So...I guess what I wanted to say is that Life is sometimes hard, and sometimes you dont see the hard bits. Ive had friends in the industry who have been raked over the coals during times where you wouldn't want to wish what they were going though on anyone. Small local businesses are run by humans. We generally dont have 5 million workers who can jump in to fill our spot when we are sick, or our baby is in hospital. We dont have multi million dollar backers who can help out in times of needs. We cant just Ring in Sick in the morning... We are just like you - with families and lives outside of our work. Please remember that as much as I look it, im really not Superwoman.

Yesterday we told you all about our new studio.....
With such a fabulous new space to offer our clients we have decided it's time to start shooting studio portraits as well as our gorgeously wonderful outdoor sessions.
But while I love photographing you all my love remains in the great outdoors, so I have entrusted the studio work to the very lovely Jo Hitchcock.
As our new in-house studio photographer extraordinaire Jo will have a giggle and a laugh while she captures life's joyful moments with you and creates beautiful artwork you will all treasure for a lifetime.
Lucky for me Jo has a pretty snazzy business brain too so she's also going to be managing the studio from now on so that I can focus on what I really love which is spending time photographing all of you :-)
Jo brings to our studio awesome shooting experience, great business sense, and a cute pommy accent.
She is one of Capture magazine's top writers so she knows the industry and through her articles has been helping photographers throughout Australia improve their business practices for several years.
Of course she will be sharing that knowledge with us too, so watch out because the Clare Day experience is about to go off the hook!!!
(We are working hard to update our image galleries so that you can check out Jo's work soon, so stay tuned!)
We realise things have been pretty quiet in blog town lately here at Clare Day but it's not because we haven't been hard at work. In fact it's because we have been soooo hard at work that we just haven't had time!
So many exciting things have been happening that it's hard to even know where to start. But let's try starting here......
Business is going so well and we love our clients so much that we decided you deserve a beautiful space to come and visit when you come to see us.
And we deserve it too ;-)
Our studio is a classy space full of beautiful smiling faces (on the walls and in the office!) where you can come to see our latest and greatest work, catch up with us, and make big beautiful plans to create amazing memories - from weddings and milestones to all the moments in between.
Of course with such a lovely space at our disposal we thought it would be a shameful waste if we didn't make the very most of it, so stay tuned for our next post...when we'll be introducing you to our awesomely talented new studio photographer Jo!
We just love visitors so drop in and see us any time :-)
