Brigitte & Peter ~ Old Broadwater Farm Busselton Wedding
Sometimes inexplicable things happen on a wedding day that you can't plan for and you may not even fully understand at the time, but you just know it's something special and you have to capture it.
During their ceremony Brigitte's mum organised a surprise for her and Peter, and gave them a box to open up. When the lid opened, a handful of monarch butterflies slowly made their way out and then flew away into the bush surrounding Old Broadwater Farm... all but one. One butterfly fluttered around the bride and groom and then rested itself on the arbour above them until the nuptials were over. In the moment it was a lovely thing to happen, and everyone enjoyed watching the beautiful butterfly. Then as the day went on we noticed there were monarch butterflies featured in the reception styling too.
Later on in the day, while I was photographing a collection of photo frames with pictures of loved ones who had passed away and so couldn't be at the wedding, I noticed one was of a young boy. At that moment a lovely lady came up to me and told me it was her son, Brigitte's cousin. She told me that they released monarch butterflies at his funeral, and that the one lingering butterfly at the wedding ceremony had made her think of him, and the fact that maybe he was there with them all at the wedding.
Isn't the universe amazing, creating such powerful symbols out of such simple things. We just have to keep our hearts and minds open enough to see them.
Other things we learned at this wedding - Eagle Rock requires dancing with your pants around your ankles, and there's a whole set dance routine to get stuck into when Nutbush starts playing ;-)
Thanks for a lovely day Peter & Brigitte, it was an honour to be there to share it with you.

Karina & Chris ~ An Edith Valley Wedding
We just loved Chris and Karina's wedding, and so did the lovely folk over at Coast to Country Weddings who have featured it on their blog today with Karina giving the lowdown on how she planned everything. Read the article and check out a few of their gorgeous images here:

Janelle & Amos’ Alverstoke Barn Brunswick Wedding
It looked like it was going to be a pretty wet day at Alverstoke Homestead for Amos and Janelle's wedding, but Janelle had her heart set on a ceremony on the steps of the old school, so thank goodness for Charmaine at Ferguson Valley Events who was happy to leave the decision to the last minute and risk setting up outside. The gamble paid off as the sun came out just in time for the start of the day and kept the rain away until the drive home.
Janelle arrived in a family friend's old Holden, which was purchased from her great grandparents and restored many years ago, so it was very special for it to be a part of the day,
The day was filled with lots of fun and family love (it was so lovely to hear Janelle's boys telling her they loved her non stop throughout the day). Janelle looked amazing in her custom made dress by Brides By Design and her soft and gorgeous hair and makeup by Jenna at Belle Couture For Hair and Makeup and Pippa Hodgins for Hair. Amos made a very dapper groom in his navy suit and traditional Maori korowai too.

Sarah & Jon ~ A Roelands Wedding
Sarah and Jon were blessed with a beautiful sunny spring day at their wedding on saturday, which was a very welcome sight after a long, wet south west winter!
The pair celebrated their wedding at Sarah's parents new home in Roelands, with Jon and the boys getting ready in one side while Sarah and the girls were in the other. After the wet weather saw the end of the plan to have the ceremony at the local park (thanks to rather a lot of mud!) it was moved to the backyard, which turned out to be a lovely spot for it with the natural bush and river in the background.
It was an early start for us, arriving at 10am to capture all the preparations before the 1pm ceremony, but luckily the trees along the river at the house and in the park provided plenty of shade from the bright midday sun.
Proof that you don't have to spend big to have a lovely wedding, Sarah DIY'd the styling for the day taking inspiration from google and instagram, and the rustic browns, whites and plum purples looked lovely in the garden setting and against the boys' grey suits. The bouquets created by Eaton's Fresh Floral Studio also suited the style perfectly, as did the cake that Sarah's cousin made. Sarah looked like a princess in her Tuscany Bridal dress (which she managed to pick up second hand on Gumtree!), and Gemma Collins and Tianna Oakley finished off her look perfectly with stunning hair and makeup.
When Sarah enquired about her wedding we bonded over dogs, and as we got to know each other in the months leading up to the wedding we discovered just how important a part of her life they are. How perfect then that she and Jon could get married in a spot where the dogs could be part of the day too!
Filming the day as well as covering the photography, we got to learn a lot about the pair and for the first time I discovered the meaning of "swipe right" - and guess what - it can end in marriage!
After a lovely ceremony and photos at the park, Sarah and Jon impressed their family and friends with a choreographed first dance before everyone enjoyed a yummy buffet and drinks under a marquee in the garden. A perfectly simple and lovely way to start their new life together.
Congratulations Sarah & Jon, just keep doing what you do because according to all your friends - it works! :-)

Bonnie & Kim's Country Affair at Alverstoke Barn
Bonnie & Kim chose the gorgeous Alverstoke Barn in the Ferguson Valley to celebrate their Big Day. Travelling from Kalgoorlie to celebrate, they created a beautiful rustic, fun celebration amongst family and friends. Booking our Party Package and Fusion Film, we were there to capture the whole day from start to finish, and we think you'll agree that this lovely pair will always remember the fun of the day and how they feel about each other when they watch this awesome film and look back at their photos :-)
Zoe and Tim's Dardanup Farm Wedding
We love a farm wedding. It's so rustic and cozy, full of casual grace, easy going and relaxed happenings, and perhaps even a herd of cows to check out whats going on. Zoe and Tim’s big day had its share of challenges, with a very soggy forecast, no power where the girls were planning to get ready and a football grand final to contend with, they faced each hurdle with happiness because they were getting married!! Not much else matters in the end really.
The ceremony was held up on a hill in the Ferguson Valley. A gorgeous old property owned by family friends, it was perfect for these farm folk from Nannup. The sun finally came out just at the right time, to shine its happy face upon these two beautiful lovebirds. The ceremony was conducted by the fabulous Lynette Malski
We spent some time exploring the farm, rolling in some hay and dancing in the fields. As evening neared we headed to Zoe’s family farm in Dardanup, and shivered through a glorious sunset.
The reception was held at Dardanup Equestrian Center, a place that is close to everyone in Zoe and Tim’s circle. The fairylights made for a magical setting.
Thank you both for sharing your big day with us, we had such a fun day on the farm – wishing you a beautiful future together.
